Maestro Jesús Sira has been a prominent figure within the National System of Youth and Children's Orchestras and Choirs of Venezuela as a violinist, conductor, and teacher. He was also the string instructor for the National Children's Orchestra of Venezuela and the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra for over fifteen years. He now puts into practice the knowledge he acquired over three decades at the Sunstate Orchestral Program (El Sistema Tampa) and has just been appointed Vice President of this institution, inspired by the sociocultural program created by maestro José Antonio Abreu 50 years ago.
Sira states that they seek to become a "pedagogical benchmark in the development of programs inspired by the System in the United States. We have already established ties with the University of South Florida, we have agreements with other artistic organizations, and we have already carried out activities with the Straz Center of the Arts, the Tampa City Ballet, and the Tampa Youth Orchestra. We have been invited to participate in teacher training seminars in Texas, Connecticut, and Illinois."
“In June, we will hold the first Sunstate Orchestral Program faculty meeting. We want the impact of this program to be appreciated and felt, from the artistic to the economic, generating new sources of employment. The goal of TATTOOS is to leave a mark, just as tattoos leave an indelible mark on the skin, transforming lives, creating lasting impressions, and shaping the future of music education,” he added.
